Manna

I love Sundays, they are so refreshing after all the cares of the week. I teach the 4-6th S.S. class, ( I really love that age group, they are so inquisitive ). We just finished talking about the parting of the Red Sea and the children of Isreal starting out in the wilderness. ( Did you know that the Sea was parted overnight by a strong east wind? and that the chilren passed through before daybreak?? ) Anyways we looked at Manna and where it came from. It went right along w/ my devos. ( I have been reading The Wonderful Names of Our Lord). And I wanted to share a bit of what they said.
There is an art, (...)by which a wearied and exhausted life may gather, (...)new strength,new vigor, new physical power, for an onward march. So the Master feeds the souls of His children Himsalf a spiritual "Manna" as real and more wondeful than that strange, mysterious food with which He fed the House of Isreal.(...)we are given "exceeding great and precious promises, that by Him we might be partakers of the divine nature."
Next time I am weary I know that I can partake of the "manna" He supplies.

Great is our God

Great is our God and great is His power,
He is our Fortress, He is our Tower;
The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Unto His name be glory and praise.

Patty and Em

We had a skating activity for the teen rally. It was a blast to be able to skate on real ice.

This was taken at our church valentines banquet, patty and I served.

Smile

It takes sixty-four muscles to make a frown, but only thirteen to make a smile. Why work overtime? =D

Valentines and singlehood!

I don't know about others, but what are you suppose to do for valentines day when you are single? This is just an awkward holiday for me. It's not so bad when all my friends are single, but now they are starting to couple up and get married. ( No Jeni, I'm not upset about it, I'm really happy for you, honest! ) Anyways I was really struggling with this recently, I God has been convicting me that He needs to be "my valentine", I have to be content in Him alone, resting in the fact that He knows best. At times it's hard but, this year sitting out God has used to show me how much i need to stop depending on myself and be fully willy not to know my future.
I found this poem by Amy Carmichael and it really portrays a spirit of of complete reliance on God's perfect timing.

Thou Dost know the Way
My Father,to my heart I take
Thy simple word of truth today;
I shall not lose me in the brake,
For Thou dost know the way.

Before my face a mountain frowns,
Above me all the sky is grey;
The mist is lying on the downs;
But Thous dost know the way.

Around me various voices call,
But thou wilt never let me stray;
For Thous , my Father, knowest all
The winding of the way.

Oh, music that the soft winds blow,
Sweet song of peace for troubled day-
I am contented not to know,
Since Thou dost know the way.

I just love the last two lines, God does know what is in store for me and so I can me fully content.
"As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in him." ps.18:30
