College life

Woo-Hoo I made it!! God is sooo good to allow me to come back. It is weird to have my bill paid to be debt free, and now to be accumulating another big bill. =P Strange how that works. I am taking 19 credits, and my biggest/hardest class is Greek.=} yeah its scary, but God is going to have to give me the brain to get through this. I'll try and put some pictures up as soon as I get them.=)
Heres a verse that I have really been looking at lately.

1 Cor. 1:25-31
For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling , brethern, how that not many wise men after the flesh , not many mighty , not may noble are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.... That according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Don't dive off a raft...

...or you'll break your back!

I Never did get a chance to write and let everyone know about Dad and the raft.( now that it has been 3 wks.)
Anyways, Dad and Nate built a raft for our pond, and decided to try it out. After they got it into the water, they began horsing around on it and Dad dove in forgetting that they were still in shallow water. Dad hit the bottom of the pond face first and came up babbling, and talking all weird. He finally Yelled "Help! It's my back...." Rob and Nate jumped in and pulled him to the shore, He still wasn't talking right and was acting like he was going to pass out. Mom called 911 and by the time it was all said and done, Dad said that he could crawl out and didn't need an ambulance. Uncle Paul and Aunt Kim were over, so they helped Mom and Rob get him up to the house and in the car.( After cleaning up all the pond junk) It took a long time to get him in the car b/c Dad was in so much pain and couldn't bend, but they were finally able to get him to ER. Dad said the worst part about the whole thing was ER, the pain was unbelievable. Needless to say, Dad broke a vertebrae in his upper back, compressed 2 discs in his neck and broke a rib. The doctor put him on lots of pain med. and therapy. So after 3 weeks he is doing better, but still not a lot of movement. He was able to go to church yesterday for the first time, but even that was hard. It's truly of God that Dad isn't paralyzed, the doctors said that with a dive like that he should have been. We are so thankful that God is in control. Thank you to all of you who are praying.

Mom and Dad's 25th !!

Thank you to everyone who had a part in Mom and Dad's sharebook. They were totally blown away when we presented it to them at the Fourth of July gathering at Aunt Char's. ( we were not able to do an anniversary party , what with my brother's open house and Dad breaking his back. The timing was all wrong.) nevertheless we did try and make it special for Mom and Dad.
Thank you once again for your special memories and pictures.

America is great....

I sought for the greatness
and genius of America
in her commodius harbors
and her ample rivers,
and it was not there;

in the fertile fields
and boundless prairies
and it was not there;

in her rich mines
and her vast world commerce
and it was not there.

Not until I went
into the churches of America
and heard her pulpits,
aflame with righteousness,
did I understand the secret
of her genius and power.

America is great
because she is good,
and if America ever ceases to be good,
America will cease to be great.

Help Is on the Way

AS both engines of the small plane started smoking, the pilot grabbed a parachute and headed toward the door. His departing words were, “Don’t worry about a thing, folks—I’m going for help.”

Are you "Ready for either"?

An old Roman coin was found on which was a picture of an ox, one of the servants of man. The ox was facing two things, an alter and a plough. The inscription read, "Ready for either". Are we ready for both service and sacrifice for our Lord? ... Run with perseverance the race that is set before you. It is worth it all! And so I run!

Spring Garden

Your Garden

First, plant five rows of peas: Preparedness, Promptness, Perseverance, Politeness, and Prayer. Next to them plant three rows of squash: Squash Gossip, Squash Criticism, and Squash Indifference. Then five rows of lettuce: let us be Faithful, Let us be Unselfish, Let us be Loyal, Let us be Truthful, Let us love one Another. And no garden is complete with out turnips: Turn up for church, Turn up with a Smile, Turn up with Determination.

The Soldier

I am reading E.M. Bounds book on prayer, the chapter I'm in right now is titled "The Christian and Spiritual Warfare." I wanted to share a couple of exerpts from it.

" There is no primrose path, no rose-scented flirting. From start to finish, it is war. The Christian warrior is compelled from the hour he first draws his sword to 'Endure hardness as a good soldier' (2 Tim. 2:3)....What a misconception many people have of the Christian life... He scarecely seems to realize that the world , the flesh, and the devil will oppose his onward march. He hardly realizes that they will defeat him utterly , unless he gives himself to constant vigliance and unceaseing prayer!...The Christian soldier must be as intense in his praying as in his fighting, for his victories will depend much more on his praying than on his fighting."
